Baseline Assessment

The Craven Arms Area Action Plan (CAAAP) is the first action plan to be produced and sets out a development strategy for the area. The purpose of the CAAAP is to plan ahead for the future and ensure that new development is formulated correctly to ensure that it is successful in achieving its aims in respect of the community of Craven Arms.

The Issues and Options document has been drafted in collaboration with a steering group of local people. Consultation on the issues and options takes place from 30 March 2007 to 11 May 2007. For more information or to view the document see the links below.

Consultation events will take place at Craven Arms Community Centre on Tuesday 3 April and Tuesday 1 May 2007. Just drop in between 3 and 7pm to view the issues and options and have your say.

A questionaire was sent to all households in January and February 2007 and is currently being analysed

Issues & Options Paper

The Issues and Options paper will propose a number of policy options for the implementation of the elements of the Baseline Assessment which involve land use. This will go out to public consultation in April 2007.

There are obviously some caveats to the choices available to local people.  For example, the Area Action Plan must be in accordance with national, regional and County planning policies.  These include Planning Policy Guidance notes, Planning Policy Statements, West Midlands Regional Spatial Strategy and the Shropshire Structure Plan.

Sustainability Appraisal

An independent sustainability appraisal will also be undertaken at different stages of the work to ensure that proposals delivered through the Plan will contribute permanent positive social, economic, and environmental sustainability.
